Ligaments is our take on the legendary Gristleizer effect, originally designed by Roy Gwinn and made legendary by Chris Carter of Throbbing Gristle. With Ligaments, we’ve replaced the original LFO section with a CD4093 NAND-based set of square-wave oscillators (similar to our 4Square oscillator).
Independent rate control over the two primary oscillators opens up a range of sound possibilities unattainable by the original Gristleizer design. We’ve complemented this with CV control over the effect bias.
Where things really take a turn for the worst is the Tear feature. When engaged, Tear introduces the third (Soft mode) or third + fourth (Hard mode) 4093 oscillators for whole new levels of modulation chaos. Use an envelope CV to gate the Tear oscillators.
Note: Because the Tear oscillators are injected into the circuit after the Mix and Bias knobs, the Mix and Bias have less effect over the sound when the Tear mode is engaged.

As with any schematic found on the internet, exercise caution when building. Test the build before plugging it into your case. If you find mistakes in the schematic, or you have recommendations for improving the design, feel free to contact us and let us know.
